58th World Leprosy Day Observed

NELRA observed World Leprosy Day in a grand manner organizing different programmes in different parts of the country:
Observed in Branches:
-Posters and pamphlets were put in different cities and villages by five regional branches.
-Local FM and print medias were used to disseminate informations
-Get together and talk programmes were organized.
Central Level:
- Press interaction programme was held in Kathmandu where TVs, Radio, FMs and different daily news paper journalists were present.
Six resource persons presented their views before the journalists and other people on the given topics as:
Mr. Surya P. Shrestha.- Chairman of NELRA: Socio-Economic and Community Based Rehabilitation of leprosy patiest.
Dr. G.D Thakur- Chief , Leprosy Control Division Govt. of Nepal: Leprosy control in Nepal, plans and policies in sustaining control.
Dr. R. K shrestha- Specialist in Leprosy, venerology and dermatalogy:
Leprosy, its nature and treatment
Dr. K.P Dhakal- Chairman of Leprosy Network-Nepal:
Network coordination in leprosy services.
Mrs. Sanumaiya Rayamajhi- a leprosy affected person:
Experience of life when suffered from leprosy-social and family discrimination, lack of proper treatment prior to 1982.
Ms.Parwati Oli-a nurse (leprosy affected person)
who got nursing training from NELRA: expressed views on the social attitude towards leprosy patients while she was in school in herchildhood.
